Biography

Aaron Walker has been recognized as a promising up-and-coming tenor.  Out of nearly 200 applicants, he was among just 24 singers selected to advance to the semifinalist round of the 2017 and 2018 James Toland Vocal Arts Competitions. Later in 2018, he was one of twelve singers chosen for the highly competitive Arizona Opera & Arizona State University Winter Vocal Academy. And in 2017, Aaron was an international finalist and 3rd Prize winner in the Great Composers Competition Series - Handel.

Aaron is a versatile artist who has performed in opera, musical theater, recital, and concert repertoire. Aaron made his professional debut with the US premiere of the Welsh opera Blodwen (Rimrock Opera Foundation/NOVA, 2019). Other noteworthy roles include Elliot (Dog Days), Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte), Benvolio (Roméo et Juliette), Saint Brioche (The Merry Widow), Pish Tush (Mikado), and Harry the Horse (Guys and Dolls). Equally at home in concert repertoire, Aaron has been a soloist in Bach's Saint John Passion (2017) as well as Bernstein's Chichester Psalms (2016).

Aaron is a skillful teacher who is comfortable teaching all ages, experience, and styles. His students have been admitted to the competitive voice programs at Brigham Young University, and his varied approach leads to rapid progress for a variety of learning styles. Aaron is also available as a piano instructor and accompanist-coach.  His studies with renowned pianist Anna Gliadkovskaya helped him develop a solid technique which he teaches to his piano students, and his affinity for sight reading has earned him a reputation as a gifted collaborative pianist.

Having served a two-year religious service mission in Kiev, Ukraine, Aaron is fluent in the Russian language. Aaron is pursuing an MM Voice & Opera Performance degree at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music and studying with W. Stephen Smith. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance, summa cum laude from Utah Valley University.
